Make sure you visit the Treaty Room where the Rapallo Treaty ending World War 1 was signed by Russia & Germany. Then grab something to eat in the Palatial Restaurant.

Best Hotel in Santa Margherita (and probably the most expensive) but worth it because it is fabulous and also so you can say you slept in the same place where the Treaty of Rapallo was signed between
