Best food option: Bring your own picnic and enjoy eating with a view. The Spread Eagle is a nice pub but the restaurant at the entrance is a canteen. Both have very few vegetarian / vegan options.

Beautiful Garden to spend the day. Admire all the views of the grounds along the walk around the lake. Don't miss the up hill temple of Apollo - both entrances are through cave style tunnels.

Two adults are currently £31.20 so if you think you'll go to more national trust properties in the year it's worth getting an annual membership for £105 - works out to about £8 a month on direct debit
