You can walk down the stairs, but I highly recommend taking the cable car up. It’s not an easy walk. It’s 6 Euros one way for the cable car. Also, it always seemed there were long lines to go down.

Try it, not as scary as it looks and really quite a marvel of civil engineering. You don't feel it in your stomach.

Not really worth taking unless you need to go back to a cruise ship or a boat trip around the caldera. Quite expensive as you pay €5 each way

A convenient and fast way to commute between Fira and the Old Port instead of hiking down the stairs or riding donkeys.
