Those are not real geese you're hearing. There is a utility pole by the river with a loudspeaker attached to it. Every five minutes, it plays a goose call for about 20 seconds.

This is definitely one of the most depressing parks around. I half expect to see a suicide here one of these days... Though that is the charm that makes it quiet when taking a break from work.
